Excellent Article! They've driven out margin and what's left are mundane and largely unimpressive cards on store shelves people feel FORCED to buy. The consumer gets very little choice because the products (from the large card makers) all seem to look and "feel" the same. It's as though the big players can no longer innovate (physical cards) and have abandoned the segment to focus on the online space. That's the reason I created Gabe & Co. (www.gabeandco.com), to bring cards that are visually interesting AND emotionally relevant. A small thing but given where the big players have taken the industry, it’s an innovation.
